A good omen

I did it.
I did it.
I did it.
For the past six months I have had a goal: One full unassisted pull-up.
January 1st, 2008 - This goal has been achieved!!!!!!
Totally unexpected achievement after being on vacation and doing no training for 10 days, my return was triumphant!!

Also, I have on the same day made some pretty big new goals - I have put my money where my mouth is and signed up for some races!!

1. Frost Fever 5k - January 26th
2. Snow Joke Half-Marathon - February 23rd
3. Missoula Full Marathon (yikes!) - July 13th

Pretty wild start to the new year, but I have alot of support to get me there.
Thank you to my two biggest supporters: My motivating and inspiring training coach Daniel and my ever enthusiastic cheerleader and encouraging sister Rae.

Other fantastic support is given by my three most faithful blog readers: Dave, Liz, and Ryan. Thanks for your attention, it is very motivating to know I have people who want to hear what I say (or type)!

Four other theories on why this year is going to be a good one for me:
1. Peanut Butter is delicious which may have altered the entire space-time continuum
2. Most things that rhyme are good: Kate and 2008
3. Graduation
4. Last full calendar year being under 30 years old (yikes!)

I hope everyone makes and achieves big things this year! Go Big or Go Home!

OK, so, despite the fact that we got to talk to each other for something like two hours tonight, I still feel compelled to comment on this blog. This is, quite possibly, the most monumental blog you have blogged to date. I am excited about it for so many reasons, I cannot even handle it!!
First of all, you are an ANIMAL!!!! Not only did you do a full on pull up, all on your own, because you're a freakin monster, but you're actually going to do a full marathon. A FULL MARATHON!! You're going to run OVER 26 miles in just six months from now. YAY!!!!
Now, even MORE ground-breaking... Welcome to the world of peanuts!! YUMMY!!!! Peanut butter is, indeed, HEAVENLY. AND full of protein. And yummy goodness. YAY!
By the way, you left out one essential rhyme in your scheme-I think it should read something like... Kate and 2008 are GREAT! HOORAY!!
Well, despite the fact that the full extent of my excitement has yet to be portrayed, I feel I should stop blog-hogging. So, I'll end with this: I am SUPER proud of you for who you are and for ALL that you do, and I am quite honored to get to be a part of it!!
GO 2008!!

Congrats to you and your chin! I don't think it's a coincidence that you started eating peanut butter last week and this week you can do a pull-up.

By the way, is that a Boy Scout in the illustration? Pull-ups in full scout uniform get extra credit.

Okay... I am going to start going to the gym TOMORROW... how can I not? How can I be such a motivator/supporter for you while letting my belly flop around and my arms hang limp and useless by my sides?

You have made some BIG goals for yourself in 2008 and you didn't even mention that fact that you are going to get your degree and have a real career where people rely on you to accurately monitor, measure, and document their input and output, conduct countless scary procedures, and provide comfort and support to people who are suffering!

I agree that this year will hold some major milestones AND I think it is fantastic to look back on the last year and recognize what you've accomplished!

Here's to many more successes!! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
